Mental Health Benefits
Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being, and mental illnesses are common and treatable. So much of what we do physically impacts us mentally.
Annual physical checkup packages negotiated for staff can be found on Dragons’ Gate here (internal link).
Below is a list of western-trained, English-speaking mental health care providers in Beijing. The list was compiled by Cigna in December 2018.
Cigna members please note:
ISB’s Cigna plan covers out-patient mental health services up to 30 visits per policy year and the co-pay is 20%. The plan also covers tele-counseling or remote counseling services as part of the out-patient mental health benefit.
Please note that all mental health treatment and services require pre-authorization. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 400 820 0955 (toll free in China) to obtain pre-authorization. As for all other treatments and services, members should first verify whether there is a direct Cigna billing arrangement with their provider of choice. Members need to pay first then claim later if there is no direct billing.
Cigna Employee Support program
Cigna’s Employee Support program gives members 24/7 access to a professional counselor – up to 5 face-to-face sessions. Any time, any day, Cigna members can contact the service for live assistance including: short-term professional counseling, in-the-moment support by phone, email or web. Support is available in your language, and there is no cost to Cigna members for this service.
Here is an article about online therapy from the American Psychological Association that you may find helpful. Remote counseling may be an option for people who are comfortable using the internet and find services more accessible this way. We don't have a list of tele-counseling services to share. You should research carefully and check with Cigna to find out if your provider of choice is covered (must be a licensed, registered physician/facility).
